Help us Remove Toxic Cigarette Butts from North Beach
Cigarette Butts are responsible for over 50% of the trash in our neighborhood. They are toxic trash that can take over a decade to decompose.
Last year, in partnership with Surfrider and North Beach Citizens, we sponsored the installation of 3 Ash Cans. These receptacles attach to existing street poles and are placed outside busy bars and intersections.
Since installation in summer 2018, we estimate that our Ash Cans have ensured over 30,000 toxic butts don’t end up clogging North Beach’s sidewalks and parks.
Now we want to double our impact. Please take the survey below to let us know where you think we should add 3 new Ash Cans this fall.
Before taking the survey, please refer to the map on the left. It shows the location of current ash cans. Please consider additional spots that you think are of of highest priority to install the new ash cans.
