Our Accomplishments

  • Improved neighborhood open space:
    1. Helped preserve the North Beach Festival
    2. Helped in the creation of a new Michelangelo Park, playground and community garden on Greenwich Street
    3. Expanded “tot lot” adjacent to the North Beach Library
  • Fought successfully to secure and preserve the 40′ height limit and to reduce the proliferation of billboards in our commercial district
  • Clean up graffiti
  • Worked to reduce noise and expansion of late-night music clubs
  • Collaborated with Citizens Advisory Committee to preserve and enhance fishing industry at Fisherman’s Warf
  • Responded to members’ request for assistance with neighborhood problems
  • Prevented large chain stores from opening on Columbus Ave. (e.g. Rite Aid & Medical Cannabis Dispensary)
  • Helped preserve Washington Square Park
  • Worked for the installation of diaper changing station at Washington Square and North Beach Playground.
  • Pushed for park repairs and playground equipment replacements

North Beach Neighbors (NBN) is a San Francisco non-profit organization that provides a forum for more than 200 North Beach residents, local businesses, and civic leaders to discuss local neighborhood concerns such as land use, development, parks and recreation, and beautification. Read→
